With the Porsche Macan Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition, Porsche is introducing a particularly elegant version of the top model in the Macan model line.
The Edition model is based on the Macan Turbo with Performance Package, which features a 3.6-litre V6 turbo engine capable of producing 324 kW (440 hp; Fuel consumption combined 9.7 – 9.4 l/100 km; CO2 emissions 224 – 217 g/km). It is only available in selected countries. Exclusive exterior and interior design features underline the highly sporty character of the most powerful derivative in the model line. The sports car amongst SUVs is carefully finished by hand in the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur department at the Leipzig production site.
The standard Turbo exterior package is the foundation for the unique appearance of the Macan Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition. This package includes features such as 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels with lateral spokes painted in Black (high-gloss), LED headlights and tinted LED rear lights. Additional design components created specifically for this Edition model underline the exclusive character of the vehicle. Elements on the front spoiler, rear apron and sideblades painted in Carmine Red are just one example of such exclusive details. The “Macan turbo” model designation is also painted in Carmine Red underneath the Black (high-gloss) “PORSCHE” logo on the rear end.
The elegant passenger compartment also features accents in black and red. The standard Exclusive Performance Edition interior package in Garnet Red combines a black leather interior with several Alcantara elements. The Garnet Red bolsters for the front seats have been designed exclusively for the Edition model. This colour is also used for other elements, including the contrasting stitching, the embroidered “turbo” lettering on the headrests, the seat belts, the ring of the Sport Chrono stopwatch and the vehicle key wallet. The aluminium PDK gear selector has also been intricately finished with leather in Garnet Red, and a “Macan Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition” logo has been added to the customised door entry trim strips and the dashboard trim. The front seats, rear bench seat and steering wheel are all heated as standard.
Based on the most powerful derivative in the model line
The Macan Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition is based on the most powerful derivative in the model line: the Macan Turbo with Performance Package. Its 3.6-litre V6 engine with twin turbocharging delivers 324 kW (440 hp). 30 kW (40 hp) more than the Macan Turbo. The Macan Turbo Exclusive Performance Edition accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and achieves a top speed of 272 km/h. A maximum torque of 600 Nm is available to the driver across a broad speed range of between 1500 and 4500 rpm. An impressive amount of tractive force is also guaranteed: It takes just 2.9 seconds to accelerate from 80 km/h to 120 km/h. The standard equipment includes a high-performance brake system with grooved brake discs that are 390 millimetres in diameter, the controlled Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports chassis, which is perfectly tuned to account for the fact that the body has been lowered by 15 millimetres, the Sport Chrono Package and the sports exhaust system.

The most powerful Panamera Sport Turismo is a plug-in hybrid with 680 hp
Atlanta, Georgia. Porsche is expanding its hybrid range by adding a powerful plug-in hybrid to the Panamera Sport Turismo model line. Combining the 4.0-liter V8 engine from the Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo with an electric motor, the 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo delivers a total output of 680 hp and 626 lb.-ft. of torque, making it one of the most powerful production vehicles Porsche has ever made. But it is not just power that makes the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo unique in its segment. Its concept, including a large tailgate, low loading edge, increased luggage compartment volume and seating for five means that the new flagship of the model line offers a high degree of everyday practicality.
Like the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid sedan, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo offers a compelling demonstration of the performance advantages of hybrid technology. The new Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo utilizes a boost strategy derived from the 918 Spyder and combines a 136 hp electric motor with a 550 hp twin-turbo V8 engine. Total output of the combined systems is 680 horse-power and 626 lb.-ft. of torque.
The decoupler installed in the Porsche hybrid module is actuated electromechanically by an electric clutch actuator (ECA), just like in the other current Panamera hybrid models. This ensures quick response and exceptional comfort. Like other Panamera models, the quick-shifting eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission sends power to the standard active all-wheel drive system with Porsche Traction Management (PTM). The E-performance powertrain allows the vehicle to sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds. The top track speed is 192 mph.
The electric motor is powered via a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery with an energy capacity of 14.1 kWh. The high-voltage battery takes 12 hours to fully charge via a common 120 V, 10 amp connection. If the optional 7.2 kW on-board charger is utilized instead of the standard 3.6 kW unit, the charging time decreases to less than three hours with a 240 V, 40 amp connection. Charging can also be initiated using a timer via Porsche Communication Management (PCM) or the Porsche Connect app (for smartphones and Apple Watch®). Additionally, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid is fitted with auxiliary air conditioning to cool or heat the passenger compartment prior to driving.
Unique design, adaptive roof spoiler and seating for five
The Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo offers all of the innovations of the second generation Panamera. These include the digitalized Porsche Advanced Cockpit, ground-breaking assistance system options such as Porsche InnoDrive including adaptive cruise control and optional rear-axle steering. At the top of the vehicle, the roof extends into an adaptive spoiler. The angle of the roof spoiler is set in three stages depending on the driving situation and selected vehicle settings, and can generate an additional downforce on the rear axle. In normal driving, the aerodynamic guide element - a central system component of Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) - stays in its retracted position with an angle of minus seven degrees, which reduces drag and thus optimizes fuel consumption.
At track speeds, the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position with an angle of plus one degree, thereby increasing driving stability and lateral dynamics. When in the Sport and Sport Plus driving modes, the roof spoiler automatically moves to the performance position at speeds in excess of 55 miles per hour. PAA also provides active assistance by adapting the roof spoiler's angle of inclination to plus 26 degrees when the panoramic sliding roof is open at speeds above 55 mph. In this case, the spoiler helps to minimize wind noise.
The top-of-the-line model offers all of the advantages of the new Sport Turismo range resulting from its unique design. The raised roof line of the Sport Turismo allows for easy entry and exit at the rear of the vehicle and offers excellent head room. The accessibility of the luggage compartment benefits from the wide opening tailgate and a loading edge height of just 24.7 inches. Like the other Sport Turismo models, the Turbo S E-Hybrid variant is also equipped with seating for three in the rear. The two outer seats take the form of individual seats - in keeping with the model line's reputation for sporty performance with maximum passenger comfort - thereby producing a 2+1 seat configuration. As an option, the Panamera Sport Turismo is also available in a four-seat configuration with two electrically adjustable individual seats in the back. Measured to the upper edge of the rear seats, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo offers 15 cubic feet of storage space. The backrests of the three rear seats can be folded down together or individually (in a 40:20:40 split) and can be unlocked electrically from the luggage compartment. When doing so, the luggage compartment volume is increased to 45.7 cubic feet.
Extensive standard equipment including ceramic brakes
Standard equipment on the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo includes Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport (PDCC Sport) including Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Power Steering Plus and the Sport Chrono Package. 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels, auxiliary air-conditioning, adaptive aerodynamic elements and a three-chamber air suspension including Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) are also standard.
Availability, expected arrival, and pricing
The 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is available to order now and is expected to reach U.S. dealers in Spring of 2018. The base MSRP is $188,400, not including a $1,050 delivery, processing and handling fee.
Porsche sets a new world record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife
Atlanta, Georgia. Porsche set a new lap record for street legal sports cars on the 12.8 mile (20.6 kilometer) Nürburgring-Nordschleife with the 2018 911 GT2 RS. Recorded and officially timed on September 20th, the best lap time of 6:47.3 minutes even surpassed internal expectations. Frank-Steffen Walliser, Head of Motorsport and GT Cars for Porsche AG, said "At the start of the development process, we set ourselves a lap time target for the GT2 RS of less than 7 minutes and 5 seconds. The credit for beating this target by 17.7 seconds goes to our development engineers, mechanics and drivers, who demonstrated an exceptionally strong team performance. This result makes it official: The GT2 RS is not only the most powerful, but also the fastest 911 model ever built."
The record lap was not just a single occurrence: Lars Kern of Germany and Nick Tandy from Great Britain broke the previous record for street legal sports cars (6:52.01 minutes) immediately and proceeded to lap the track in under 6:50 minutes on five separate laps. Andreas Preuninger, Director of the GT model line, stated, "It's not just the record time achieved by the GT2 RS that demonstrates the vehicle's caliber, but also the consistency of performance in every lap. We're particularly proud of the fact that this was achieved with two different vehicles and two different drivers, as it underscores the ability of the GT2 RS to reproduce the record over and over again."
Porsche factory driver Nick Tandy traveled directly from the six hour race in Austin, Texas to the Ring and adapted from driving the Le Mans prototype Porsche 919 Hybrid to the 700 hp 911 GT2 RS fitted with standard N-spec Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in impressive fashion. Lars Kern, Porsche test driver by trade and a passionate race car driver in his own right, was the one to set the fastest final time. In addition to the Carrera Cup Australia, Kern regularly competes in the German VLN endurance racing championship on the Nürburgring and knows the Nordschleife like the back of his hand. The ultimate record lap began under ideal track conditions at 7:11 p.m. local time and ended 6:47.3 minutes later. The average speed on the 12.8 mile (20.6 kilometer) lap was 114.4 miles per hour.
The fastest and most powerful road-going 911 celebrated its world premiere at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood, Great Britain. The heart of the high-performance sports car is a twin turbo flat-six engine producing 700 horsepower. This enables the two-seater weighing 3,241 pounds to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.7 seconds. The top track speed of the rear-wheel drive Coupé is 211 miles per hour. Thanks to the race-bred powertrain, the new 911 GT2 RS surpasses its predecessor, which was equipped with a 3.6 liter engine, by 80 horsepower and delivers up to 553 lb.-ft. of torque.
