Visionary? You can look at it like that. The roads of this world lure us with countless curves and corners. At night in particular, it is vital to achieve optimum illumination of the roads. As a result, at the point where human visual acuity reaches its limits, Porsche is extending the field of vision thanks to intelligent technology. This means you reach your destination faster, or simply allows you to enjoy the driving experience. The Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) and the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) convert the main headlights of your Porsche into active assistants which do everything to ensure a relaxing and comfortable drive. After all, when it comes to controlling a vehicle, a visionary approach is sometimes characterised by the ability to see objects those decisive few tenths of a second earlier.
Dynamic cornering light
The dynamic cornering light swivels the main headlights into the bend, depending on the steering angle and vehicle speed. In Panamera and Cayenne models, the static cornering light additionally activates auxiliary headlights to illuminate tight corners or when turning.
Dynamic high beam
The dynamic high beam detects the lights of traffic traveling in front and of oncoming traffic. The intensity and range of the light beam are thus adapted to the relevant situation. This allows you to detect the course of the road, pedestrians or any dangers at an early stage without dazzling other road users.
Intersection light
The intersection light function detects intersections and junctions using the navigation data of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). The system then switches on the left and right cornering lights simultaneously for optimized illumination at intersections. If there is one road joining the one you are driving on, only the static cornering light on the side facing the road mouth is activated. Porsche Car Connect is an app for your smartphone which offers a host of useful options for you and your Porsche. Porsche Car Connect includes Remote Services, Vehicle Tracking Services, and E-Performance Services. The Remote Services allow you to access vehicle information and control selected functions remotely. The Vehicle Tracking Services help you to protect your Porsche against theft and find it if the worst happens. Remote Services

Atlanta, Georgia. Porsche is responding to the growing demand for a built-in navigation device for vintage Porsche sports cars with its Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System. Following its successful market launch in Europe in February 2015, the Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System is now available in the USA and Canada. This purpose-built unit combines a style reminiscent of the original equipment radios in these cars with the benefits of modern digital technology. It fits perfectly into the DIN-1 slot used for decades in Porsche sports cars and is operated by means of two knobs, six discreetly integrated buttons, and a touch-sensitive 3.5-inch display. The new Classic Radio Navigation System also comes prewired with a lead for an optional SiriusXM® satellite radio tuner. With its black surface and two authentic styles of knobs (both supplied as standard), the Classic Radio Navigation System blends harmoniously into the dashboard of classic Porsche models. It bears the Porsche logotype and is suitable for sports car generations between the first 911 from the 1960s to the last air-cooled 911 (993 series, MY1998), as well as the 912, 914, 924, 928, 944, and 968 models. The Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System comes with key features of today’s systems. In addition to smartphone connection via Bluetooth, the unit has low-interference radio reception, precise navigation, two USB ports, and interfaces for a variety of external music sources, controllable from the display. In addition, the Classic radio has an internal microphone and an external microphone. The integrated amplifier delivers 4x45 watts and can be connected either directly to the loudspeakers or to the original sound system using an optional adapter cable. Exclusively developed and adapted for classic Porsche sports cars
The Porsche Classic Radio Navigation System has been exclusively developed for Porsche Classic sports cars. Radio reception, for instance, has been optimized for the built-in antenna supplied during original production (which is generally only a single telescoping rod). The device’s operating concept is based on Porsche Communication Management (PCM). It has undergone extensive testing at the Technical University in Munich to verify user friendliness, and numerous trial trips were made in the USA and Canada to test country-specific navigation. Drivers have a choice of arrows and two-dimensional or three-dimensional maps to display the route, and the maps are stored on a microSD card with eight gigabytes of memory. The new Classic Radio Navigation System is available immediately from authorized Porsche dealers. The Porsche Classic division of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG is responsible for supplying parts for vehicles generally produced more than ten years ago. Its services cover all aspects of technical literature as well as the supply and reproduction of original parts, and even extend to complete restoration. The company is expanding its international dealer and service network to around 100 Porsche Classic Partners for optimal support of classic cars. Customers can expect a wide range of Porsche Classic services from Porsche Classic Partners. Through this measure, Porsche has integrated the care of modern classic and vintage cars in an innovative service concept, closely linking Porsche tradition and Porsche innovation. Atlanta, Georgia. Porsche Cars North America has launched its New Vehicle Delivery program at the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) in Atlanta. The program enables customers to place a factory order for a new vehicle through any authorized Porsche dealer in the U.S. and take delivery directly from the experiential destination, located at One Porsche Drive in Atlanta. California forensic accountant and attorney Tracy Blumenthal was the first official customer to participate in the program today when she picked up her new Cayenne S E-Hybrid sport utility vehicle. "We are thrilled to launch the New Vehicle Delivery program as another premium offering at our Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta," said Andre Oosthuizen, Vice President, Marketing, for Porsche Cars North America. "We welcome further customers to follow the lead of Tracy Blumenthal and enjoy this exclusive opportunity to truly experience the Porsche brand." New Vehicle Delivery customers receive a total VIP experience, comprised of a tour of the PEC, an in-depth vehicle orientation with a delivery specialist, a 90-minute experience in a Porsche on the driver development track, and lunch at Restaurant 356, Porsche’s fine-dining destination. Because Blumenthal is the first customer taking part in the New Vehicle Delivery program, she also enjoyed a special demonstration lap in an 887-horsepower 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid supercar with former Porsche race car driver and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner David Donohue. "Porsche is a remarkable brand that I have repurchased multiple times, consecutively," Blumenthal expressed. "You truly can't understand the genius of these cars unless you have in fact had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one."
In addition to Blumenthal’s new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the 918 Spyder, also on display for the launch were the two other Porsche hybrid vehicles – the Panamera S E-Hybrid and 919 Hybrid race car. The New Vehicle Delivery program marks the latest in a unique set of offerings at the Experience Center designed to immerse customers in the complete Porsche experience. Other PEC features include a 1.6-mile driver development track, conference and meeting facilities, a Classic Workshop for maintenance and repair of customer vehicles, the Porsche Heritage Gallery and the fine-dining Restaurant 356. Approximately 17,500 guests visited the PEC between June and December 2015. The New Vehicle Delivery program is available at no additional cost to all Porsche customers who place a factory order for a new Porsche vehicle. To register, customers coordinate with their local dealer and cover necessary travel arrangements. Reservations are limited and scheduled by appointment. Further information is available at any authorized U.S. Porsche dealer or online at www.porsche.com/usa. Atlanta, Georgia. The New York International Auto Show will be host to three North American debuts for Porsche this year. The 911 R and the 718 Boxster both represent the latest interpretation of driving pleasure and dynamics in their respective segments. The 911 R is a pure, uncompromised driving machine with a naturally-aspirated, 500 horsepower engine mounted in the rear. The 718 Boxster features extensive chassis enhancements and an all-new turbocharged, mid-mounted flat-four cylinder engine. The 718 Boxster is powered by a 2.0 liter engine developing 300 horsepower, while the 718 Boxster S utilizes a 2.5 liter powerplant making 350 horsepower. The third debut, the Macan, is driven by a sporty and highly efficient turbocharged 2.0 liter inline-four cylinder engine. Four Macan Models Now Available Porsche is expanding its line-up of compact SUVs with a new variant of the Macan. Following the introduction of the Macan S, Macan Turbo, and most recently the Macan GTS models, the four-cylinder turbocharged engine in this model is tailored for use in the sports car of the SUV segment. As is characteristic for all Porsche models, the Macan is capable of converting its engine power into impressive driving dynamics using the standard active all-wheel drive with Porsche Traction Management PTM, as well as the agile suspension and precise steering. Air suspension with load-leveling control and the PASM system with adaptive dampers are optionally available. Weighing only 3,902 pounds, the Macan is the lightest SUV made by Porsche, which translates into particularly agile handling. Sporty turbocharged four-cylinder The new inline-four engine is designed to be sporty and efficient. It operates with up to 14 PSI of boost pressure, charge-air cooling, direct injection, and variable valve timing. VarioCam Plus adapts the intake and exhaust camshaft continually and also controls the lift of the exhaust valves. Thanks to 252 hp from 5,000 to 6,800 rpm and 273 pound-feet of torque available between 1,600 rpm and 4,500 rpm, overtaking maneuvers are completed confidently. Like all other Macan models, the turbocharged 2.0 liter engine in the Macan is connected to a standard seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission featuring Auto Start Stop technology. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph is completed in 6.1 sec with the optional Sport Chrono Package featuring Launch Control. Top track speed is 142 mph. In terms of fuel consumption, the new Macan proves to be particularly efficient with an estimated improvement of up to 18 percent compared to the Macan S. Fuel economy values from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are 25 miles per gallon on the highway, 20 mpg in the city, and 22 mpg combined. Extensive level of standard equipment Visually and in terms in of equipment, there is little that separates the new Macan from the rest of the family. Distinguishing exterior characteristics are matte black window surrounds and brake calipers in black, while the unique dual exhaust pipes are finished in stainless steel. The front fascia and lava black side blades match the Macan S. The Macan comes standard with Bi-Xenon™ headlights, 8-way power front seats, seat centers in Alcantara®, the newest generation of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Piano Black interior package, and a lane departure warning system.
The 2017 Macan is available to order now with deliveries expected in July 2016. The Macan starts at $47,500, excluding delivery, processing, and handling fee of $1,050. Limited edition 911 variant with 500 hp naturally aspirated engine and manual transmission Atlanta, Georgia. Celebrating its world debut at the 2016 Geneva International Motor Show, the new 2016 Porsche 911 R follows the tradition set by the first road-homologated race car bearing the name in 1967. Produced as part of a limited production series, the original 911 R (R for Racing) was entered in rallies, in the Targa Florio and in world record runs. Like its legendary predecessor, the new 911 R features a systematic lightweight construction, a high level of performance and an unfiltered driving experience. The 911 R is limited to 991 units worldwide, and represents the lightest available version of the 911 with a curb weight of just 3021 pounds. Powered by a 500 hp four-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the 911 R underscores Porsche’s commitment to building emotional and engaging high-performance sports cars with a maximum amount of driving pleasure. Developed by Porsche’s motorsport department, the 911 R is the third model to use Porsche’s latest generation of high-performance naturally aspirated flat-six engines alongside the track-bred 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS models. Powering the 911 R is the four-liter flat-six familiar from the 911 GT3 RS. The race-bred powertrain delivers 500 hp at 8,250 rpm and generates 338 lb.-ft. of torque at 6,250 rpm. The 911 R can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and reach a top track speed of 200 miles per hour. True to its purist character, the lightweight model is available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission featuring short, performance oriented gear ratios. The quick and crisp shifting further underscores the high level of driving engagement. A thoroughbred driving machine utilizing track-bred technology The 911 R was designed with corners in mind. The specially tuned standard rear-axle steering offers direct turn-in response and precise handling while maintaining a high level of stability. The mechanical rear differential lock ensures a maximum amount of traction, while the standard Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system with 16.1 inch front and 15.4 inch rear rotors offers ultimate braking performance. Ultra-High Performance Tires measuring 245 millimeters at the front and 305 millimeters at the rear generate significant levels of grip. They are mounted on forged, lightweight 20-inch wheels with a matte aluminum finish and center locking hubs. Porsche Stability Management (PSM) has been specifically calibrated for the 911 R by Porsche’s motorsport department. A rev-match function, which can be activated at the touch of a button, is a standard feature, while a single-mass flywheel is available as an option, sharpening the responsiveness of the engine even further. A front-axle lift system can also be optionally equipped to maximize everyday practicality: it can increase the ground clearance of the front axle by approximately 1.2 inches at the touch of a button. Weighing just 3021 pounds, the 911 R is 110 pounds lighter than the 911 GT3 RS. The front luggage compartment lid and the front fenders are made of carbon fiber, while the roof is made of magnesium, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity. Reduced interior insulation and the omission of rear seats also help to reduce weight. The 911 R comes standard without an air conditioning or audio system. They can be ordered at no extra charge. More than meets the eye: classic 911 look with GT racing technology The 911 R retains a sleek, classic look. At first glance, the body resembles that of the 911 Carrera. Only the front fascia and rear body familiar from the 911 GT3 hint at the birthplace of the 911 R: Porsche’s motorsport department in Flacht. Under the skin, the 911 R has much to show: the engine comes from the 911 GT3 RS. All the lightweight components of the body and the complete chassis have been adopted from the 911 GT3. Road use being the priority, the 911 R does without the fixed rear wing characteristic of the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 RS models. Instead, an automatically deployed rear spoiler, familiar from the 911 Carrera models, and a rear underbody diffuser specific to the 911 R provide the necessary downforce. Front and rear fascia components are taken from the 911 GT3. The Sport Exhaust System is made of lightweight titanium, as is the case for the 911 GT3 RS. A redesigned spoiler lip is installed at the front. Optional Porsche logos on the side of the vehicle and color stripes in red or green running over the center of the car display the connection to its legendary predecessor. The 911 R is equipped with full bucket seats with carbon fiber backrests and seat centers upholstered in houndstooth design, paying homage to the original 911 of the 1960s. A “911 R-specific” GT Sport steering wheel measuring 14.1 inches in diameter awaits the driver’s commands. Gearshifts can be carried out via a shortened, R-specific gear lever. Carbon fiber interior trim strips with an embedded aluminum badge on the passenger side indicate the limited production number of the 911 R. A feature typical of GT vehicles, the conventional handles are replaced with door opening loops.
Vehicle launch and prices The 2016 Porsche 911 R can be ordered now. In the United States, it will be reach dealers late this summer. The starting MSRP is $184,900, excluding the $1,050 destination charge. |
